Scrolling through my newsfeed I realised I see at least 5 articles about relationships every day. And most of them are contradicting. The worst thing is that these articles and those writing them, claim that there are universal solutions and truths that will work for every relationship.

Every relationship is different. And relationships are no longer well defined arrangements that have to follow certain rules. Relationships evolved and we forgot that. We also forgot that a relationship is in the little things… things like coffee in bed in the morning, brushing your teeth together in the evening and talking about who’s buying coffee when there is none left…

Relationships are about just being happy for waking up next to each other, being mad at each other but being able to say sorry first… laughing at each other’s mistakes and imperfections.

People overcomplicate things. Overthink the hows and whys and expect the worst. We expect fireworks and butterflies but we also want steady and secure. We want hot and trendy while we want something that lasts. We want it all but we are not prepared to give it all.

Relationships would be easy if people didn’t overcomplicate them with high expectations and overly romanticised ideals…
